Hi, I’m currently in the amidst of my research, I’m asking if there is a sensor that can determine whether a fuel is gasoline or diesel, I’m new to this type of thing I just want to know if there is a possible sensor that can determine gasoline and diesel fuel, a response will be appreciated.

    Hi,

If you just want to see whether a liquid is gasoline or diesel, you can use a portable refractrometer for this. If you think this option is not suitable for your budget, you can also do this using an LPG sensor. However, you should place the LPG sensor slightly above the liquid. Because this sensor is actually used for gases and should not be submerged in liquid. First, you should calibrate this sensor in two liquids that you are sure are gasoline and diesel. Of course, you will also need a small screen and code.

The first method gives clearer results, but the second is cheaper. Of course, the cheaper one is a more DIY solution.

    Best regards,

Man, I appreciate you, bro. the portable refractometer can you explain to me how will it determine diesel and gasoline? yea I’m doing my research but can you explain it in much simpler terms

      Hi,

The light refractive indexes of diesel and gasoline are different. You can find out how many from the literature. Refractrometers also measure this refractive index. I can only give preliminary information. You need to do a little research to understand the detailed working system.

      Best regards,
