Are there any hydrogen compressors that can take an input of 0.1-1 bar pressure?
Posted by Samuel Foster on May 16, 2023 at 11:25Ideally it will take the pressure from 0.1-1 bar up to around 20 bar. Or would this require a few stages of compression? It will also need to reliably work with a varying input pressure.

Hi Samuel, please have a look into that: https://hyfindr.com/product-category/systems/hydrogen-compression-systems/

Hi Bjorn,
I have had a look at the website but it didn’t seem to state minimum inlet pressures. I will reach out to some of the suppliers individually but was simply wondering if anyone knew of an existing solution.
Thanks,
Sam

Ok, understood Sam. I will ask our engineering team to have a look at that. We are in contact with all these companies. I will send you my contact details and then you can explain to me the background in more detail. We can ask one of our partners to come back to you in a specific way. In addition, I trust that our community will continue to try to help you.

Thanks for confirming. I will send you an email with further information.

Hi Samuel,
Hope your are doing well.
To compress hydrogen from a low inlet pressure of 0.1-1 bar up to 20 bar, it is likely that multiple stages of compression would be required. This is especially true if you want to ensure efficient and reliable compression while maintaining system integrity.
There are different manufacturers in the market dealing with low pressure compression. Have attached some link below;
1. McPhy Energy: https://mcphy.com/en/?cn-reloaded=1
2. HyET Hydrogen: https://hyethydrogen.com/compression/
3. PDC Machines: https://www.pdcmachines.com/hydrogen-compressors-for-hydrogen-refueling-stations/?tab=1#refueling
Hope this helps!
